Medications

  • Finasteride is a medication used in dogs to restore infertility issues caused by benign prostatic hypertrophy (an enlargement of the prostate gland caused by hormones) and treat the general clinical signs associated with it.

  • Fipronil is an antiparasitic agent prescribed by your veterinarian for treatment of fleas and ticks in dogs and cats.

  • Firocoxib is a non-narcotic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent used for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs.

  • Your veterinarian has prescribed fluconazole to treat ringworm or another fungal infection.

  • Fludrocortisone acetate belongs to the family of medicines called steroids. It is classified as a corticosteroid. The body naturally produces similar steroids that are necessary to maintain the balance of certain minerals and water for good health. This medication has been used for the treatment of Addison's disease (adrenocortical insufficiency). It has also been used as adjunctive therapy when there is an excess of potassium in the blood.

  • Flunixin meglumine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication used for treating inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disease.

  • Fluoxetine is used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders in dogs and cats. It may be used to correct aggressive behavior, thunderstorm phobias and excessive licking and hair pulling. Fluoxetine HCl is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant.

  • Fluralaner is used to treat and control flea and tick infestations in dogs and cats. Sometimes fluralaner is used for the treatment of sarcoptic mange or demodectic mange. When fluralaner is prescribed for the treatment of mange, it is referred to as 'extra-label' or 'off label' use. The majority of pets have very few side effects from fluralaner, provided it is given according to label recommendations and at the prescribed interval. If you suspect an overdose or negative reaction to the medication, call your veterinary office immediately.

  • Flurbiprofen is used to stop inflammation in the eye.

  • Furosemide is a diuretic. It is used to help reduce the amount of water in the pet's body by increasing the flow of urine. Furosemide is also used to treat high blood pressure and decrease the workload on the heart and arteries.
